33 Weeks and counting!

Week 33

I am so sorry that it has been so long since the last blog! We were in Indiana for a couple of amazing showers and to visit with family before our little bambino makes his entrance into this world:) It was a wonderful time, and we can't wait to see everyone again...this time with our sweet little boy!

While in Indiana, I had my first encounter with the "painful" braxton hicks contractions. I've heard all about the "painless" ones, but didn't know anything about these! I must say, they are pretty weird feeling! It feels like little tiny needles poking me all at the same time for about 30 seconds and then WHAMMO my belly gets super hard! Sometimes I need to stop and breathe for a little while. When I went to my doctors appt. yesterday, I mentioned them. She said that if I ever get them four times in a row that they are probably real contractions, so to be sure and keep track of them!

Speaking of doctors appointments...during my appt. my doctor informed me that if I don't deliver by October 1, they will induce me sometime that week! YAY! She also told me that his heartbeat was 136 beats per minute and that my belly measured 33 weeks! She did say that he was positioned on my right side, which means that if he stays that way, he would have his face up- making delivery a lot harder. She sent me home with some exercises to do to get him back on the left side (fyi: after I had done my exercising, he did switch...and 5 minutes later, he was back on my right side....that little booger:)) She also went on and on about how symmetrical my belly is! Apparently, she has seen some pretty odd looking bellies! Ha Ha!

Well, here is what you all have been waiting for....our little one's stats!

Baby's Length: 17-19 inches long from head to toe
Baby's Weight: 4- 4.5 pounds
Baby's Size: ibook
Baby's World
The Amniotic fluid is at its highest level during my pregnancy.
Our baby's head size has increased 3/8ths of an inch due to rapid brain growth. What a smartie Pants!

Neurons and synapses are developing in huge numbers -- forming connections in baby's brain will give him the skills he needs to thrive as a newborn. This week, he may be able to coordinate sucking and swallowing with breathing.

While most of his bones are hardening, his skull is quite pliable and not completely joined. The bones will be able to move slightly to make birthing easier.

Our baby takes intermittent deep breaths -- of water! That's okay, though since he gets oxygen from the placenta. This breathing exercises muscles and encourages his lung cells to produce more surfactant (a protein essential for healthy lung development).
his testicles will be descending from his abdomen into his scrotum. Sometimes one or both testicles won't move into position until after birth.
Well, there you have it! I hope to post some new pictures here soon! Love you all and miss you greatly!
The Heuers!
